A domain that will not connect

If verification keeps failing, the cause is usually mundane. These are the four to check, in the order that finds the problem fastest.

1. Not enough time has passed#

DNS changes are not instant. Minutes is common, several hours happens, and there is nothing to fix in the meantime. If you added the records in the last hour, wait before changing anything, and resist the urge to edit records while you wait: each edit restarts the clock.

2. A character is wrong#

Compare each record against what Sitebefy shows, character by character. Copy and paste rather than reading and typing. A trailing dot, a missing hyphen or a stray space is enough to fail verification while looking correct.

3. An old record is still there#

If the domain pointed somewhere before, the previous records may still exist alongside the new ones. Two records competing for the same name is not a valid configuration; remove the old ones.

4. The DNS is managed somewhere else#

Buying a domain and managing its DNS can happen in different places. If you changed records at your registrar but the domain uses another provider's nameservers, you edited records nothing is reading. Check which nameservers the domain uses and make the change there.
