What happens during a build

Pressing Build starts real provisioning work. This is what the progress bar is actually doing.

A build is not a preview being saved. Sitebefy provisions a real WordPress installation, which is why it takes minutes rather than seconds.

The build progress screen partway through, showing the current stage

The stages#

The progress screen names each stage as it happens, and the percentage comes from the provisioner rather than being an animation. In broad terms: the server space is prepared, WordPress is installed, your theme and the plugins for the features you chose are configured, your content and images are placed, and the address is pointed at the finished site.

If you close the tab#

The build continues. It is running on Sitebefy's servers, not in your browser. Come back to the dashboard and the site will be there, finished or still working.

When it finishes

The success screen shows your site address, the WordPress admin link, and the admin credentials. The password is shown once. Copy it before you leave the page.
