Delete a site

Permanent, and the subdomain is held for ten days afterwards. Read this before you do it.

Deleting removes the site, its content, its backups and its history. It is not reversible.

There is no undo

Download anything you want to keep first. A backup does not survive the site being deleted.

  1. Save anything you want to keep#

Export content from WordPress, or download the files over SFTP. Once the site is gone, so is everything on it.

  2. Delete the site#

From the site page, choose to delete. You will be asked to confirm.

The ten-day subdomain hold#

After deletion the subdomain is held for ten days before anyone can take it. That stops someone else claiming your address the moment you delete something by accident. It also means you cannot immediately reuse the name yourself: if you are rebuilding under the same name, wait, or pick a different one.
